SCAR TISSUE pages 157-198

In these chapters Anthony gets kicked out of his band. He doesn’t really care though he just kind of puts it off. He decided that he has a drug problem and that something needs to be done. So he calls his mother and tells her everything. Next thing he knows he has a plane ticket back to his mothers house. Eventually the day came for him to fly to his mother’s house, and he chickened out and told her that he was sick and he couldn’t come. Two weeks went by and he still had not flown out there and didn’t want to anymore. A couple days later he is stocking up on drugs and he gets pulled over by the cops. The cop lets him go because he liked his former band and tells him to go and get help. Then Anthony decides to go to treatment. He goes for thirty days and graduates treatment successfully. He stays sober after treatment for a while and calls up his band, and could tell that they were not happy with the lead singer so they let him join back in the band.

SCAR TISSUE pages 132-156

In these chapters Anthony and Jennifer’s relationship is not doing well. Anthony continually cheats on Jennifer and he doesn’t seem to care about her feelings. Kim, his best friend nothing more is Jennifer’s biggest rival. She hates her because one day she found them naked sleeping together and went crazy and started breaking windows. There was nothing between them they were not sexually involved Jennifer just saw it the wrong way. Jennifer’s jealousy grew and eventually she cheated on Anthony. He was so mad and he never wanted to see her again and didn’t understand how she could do that to him, so then he dumped her. He felt so relieved when he did this, which makes me think that that he is a horrible boyfriend and I don’t understand why Jennifer put up with him. After they break up Jennifer is so incredibly sorry what she did and she just did it to get his attention. So every nigh she slept at his door step until he finally let her back in.

SCAR TISSUE pages 110-131

In these chapters Anthony and his band are beginning tour. They are expecting crazy performances and huge parties. Anthony always impresses his audience with doing something completely crazy and out of the ordinary. Most producers tell their bad that they and as good on CD because they cant capture what it happing outside of the music. The tour begins with a couple performances, eventually the driver of their tour bus quits. He decides to quit because he is jealous and wants a part in the band and they wont let him in. Meanwhile when they are recording a CD one of their cocaine dealers comes in and demands money that they owe them. They don’t have the money and the only way they can pay him is if they let him on the CD. I think that their drugs are severely affecting their band and that there is some foreshadowing that something bad is going to happen to their band involving drugs.

SCAR TISSUE pages 75-109

In this chapter Anthony opens up about his childhood. He talks about his dad giving him pot at age 10 and what gave him a push into the world of drugs. When he was about 9 he would go and fly to California to live with his dad for the summer. His dad was into partying and dealing drugs and he learned about them at a young age. When it was the school year and he was living with his mom he would spend the whole year California dreaming. His dad would take him to clubs at a young age and split his sare of drugs with him. When they would get to the club his dad would abondon him once he was drunk. This would happen every weekend and often times there would be an after party at his house. I can see what left him thinking that drugs are ok. This happend beacuse his fatherly figure was not someone to look up too. As time went on he would no longer have to be with his dad to do drugs. He would find them on his own and I really think that is what sparked his addiction, beacuse he looked up to his dad im manny ways.

SCAR TISSUE pages 54-75

These chapters opened into the stories of Anthony’s deep drug addiction. Currently his band is doing really well and just got signed with a major producer. Anthony is continually missing band practices to go and get high. Flea and Hittle are really concerned about him because they never see him sober anymore. His drug problems aren’t only effecting his best friends, he has also got his girlfriend into heroin. Anthony is actually benefiting from this because every time he cheats on her he can just make it up to her with drugs.
After his band gets signed they have to travel to their producers house which is far from their city environment. When they arrive Anthony is going crazy with out his drugs. He was getting extremely sick because his body could not handle being without them.
On his free time he writes songs, and his band is the only thing that makes him think that he dosent need drugs to make him happy.

SCAR TISSUE pages 30 - 53

By reading these chapters I have discovered so much about Anthony. When he was 10 he smoked pot for the first time and he would casually hang around with Sony and Cheer. He was living with his dad in California and living a party life at a young age. His dad would take him to nightclubs regularly, and before they would leave for the club his dad would insure that he was high and so was his son. This started to become normal to Anthony, he also was used to seeing his dad with a different woman every night or having coked out people passed out all over his house. As his life progresses he makes drugs a daily routine. He eventually goes to college but not for long and decides that college isn’t his thing. His bad randomly starts one day when he is asked to perform. he gets together with some buddies ad puts together a little performance. When they perform everyone loves them and they decide to form a band. they start talking about band names one day and they got toe idea for their band name form two other band names combined and from then on they were known as the “Red Hot Chili Peppers”

SCAR TISSUE pages 1-30

One of the reasons that I choose this book was because the author is the lead singer of one of my favorite bands, The Red Hot Chili Peppers. This book is a memoir about Anthony’s life and the creation of his band. I thought that it would be interesting to learn about his journey through drugs and what inspired him to write all of his songs for his band. I know that Scar Tissue will be a good book because when I picked it up in the store, I flipped open to a page and I couldn’t stop reading. The book is also a New York Times best seller. In the few pages I have read I can relate to what the author is going through and some of the things he is telling the reader, this interests me even more. I am very excited to read this book and learn about the formation of his band and his journey through life.

The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time. chapters 109-127

These chapters were really interesting because Christopher decried how his mind works.
He said “My memory is like a film. And when people ask me to remember something I can simply press rewind fast foreword and pause like on a video recorder.”(76)
I think this is really strange because when he decries his memories he includes every detail. He remembers the exact dates of everything, his age, and what people were wearing. He could even tell you the brand of cigarettes his mother was smoking. He uses his memory to discover what is going on in a situation. He cant understand things like an everyday person can. When someone says “see you later alligator” he thinks of an alligator and it doesn’t make any sense to him. So when he sees something strange like someone laying on the ground or someone says something strange to him he refers to his past to see if other people act like that to make sense of what is going on. He thinks like this because he is autistic. He also has no imagination, he doesn’t understand when someone is talking about their future or uses metaphors because he cannot picture things that are not realistic. He doesn’t understand what someone means when they tell him to use his imagination because he thinks its impossible. This is interesting to me because how can someone be so smart in one part of there brain but be lacking so much knowledge in the other parts.

The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time. chapters 101-109

“The world is full of obvious things which nobody by any chance ever observes” (73)

Christopher is quoting Sherlok Holmes. This quote is significant because Christopher relates this to his life. He thinks that this quote doesn’t apply to him, just like it doesn’t apply to Sherlok Holmes. Christopher is different and thinks a in a completely different way then all the other kids, he notices strange things and is a very good problem solver. He thinks different because of his autism, and is more of a careful observant person. Christopher is writing a mystery novel because he knows this about himself. In his book he makes sure that he includes every detail even if they are irrelevant. He also knows how to solve mysteries because his favorite books are the ones about Sherlok Holmes. His favorite book is The Hound of Bakervills, because its also about a dog, but the dog doesn’t die, the dog scares someone to death.

The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time. chapters 89-101

“I like maths because they are not like life, they have a straightforward answer in the end” (61-62)

This quote is significant because Christopher is solving a mystery and this quote ties in with how difficult it is to solve a mystery. He is going out of his way and doing things that make him uncomfortable, like talking to strangers to solve this mystery. He also discovered why his father didn’t like Mr. Shears. Christopher was out on a walk and saw Mrs. Alexandria and asked her why her father thought Mr. Shears was an evil man but she didn’t want to tell him. He asked this because Mr. Shears was his prime suspect, but his father hated him for a different reason for a different reason. With a lot of persuading he finally convinced Mrs. Alexandra to tell him why. She made him promise that if she told him he wouldn’t tell his dad. She finally told him that the reason his father hated Mr. Shears was that before his mother died his mother cheated on him with Mr. Shears. Christopher was not upset about his mother’s betrayal, he was just upset that no one ever told him. This is significant because it also ties in with the quote because he never got a answer when he asked his parents why they were fighting, he has to go to the neighbors who knew before him.

The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time. chapters 83-89

In these chapters Christopher has discovered his prime suspect of Wellington’s murder. He thinks Mr. Shears Killed Wellington. He thinks that Mr. Shears did it to make Mrs. Shears mad. His father also said that Mr. Shears is an “Evil Person” (49). Christopher’s father doesn’t what him to go investigate on their property. He also doesn’t know why his father thinks that Mr. Shears is an evil man. Christopher’s father gets really upset with him when he finds out that he is questioning the neighbors, so he makes him promise that he will stop trying to solve the mystery of Wellington. Christopher is really upset about this and he doesn’t listen and continues to investigate.

The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time. chapters 79-83

"I thought mother and father were going to get a divorce because of the stress of looking after someone who has behavior problems."(47)
In theses chapters you discover some of the behavior problems that he has. Like hitting people, or taking his mother’s car out for a spin. He is also very difficult to make happy. He has to have every thing his way because he is so high maintenance. If someone touches his toothbrush he can never use it again. He knows that he is different from everyone else and he blames a lot of things on himself. I think that he shouldn’t do that because if his parents get divorced she shouldn’t have to put that blame on him self. He seems like a responsible kid and also want to take responsibility for the other things that go wrong in his life, like hi parents marriage.

The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time. chapters 71-73

In this chapter the main conflicting event is that his parents might get separated. He thinks this is going to happen because they argue a lot. They also say they hate each other in front of him. He thinks that his parents might get divorced because if him and the stress that he puts on his family with his behavior problems. Some of his behavior problems would include, smashing things when he is angry or not liking or touching brown or yellow things. He is autistic and has a lit of his behavior problems that he lists in the book. His parents get really frustrated with him and threaten to hit him. His mother would say that she would put im in a mental home unless he stopped.

The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time. chapters 59-71

"I don't like talking to strangers, but i will do it for detective work." (39)

I choose this as an important quote because it shows how dedicated he is to finding the killer of Wellington. One of his biggest fears is talking to strangers because he doesn’t understand them and likes following the rule "stranger danger". But when it comes to finding the killer of Wellington he is completely dedicated to it and goes knocking an all the stranger’s doors in his neighborhood. He thinks that it is very important to find the killer because he doesn’t understand why someone would do something like that. He is also a good friend with the owner of the dog. When he goes knocking on the doors he is scared and can't look any of the stranger's facees when he asks them questions. He also doesn’t find out much information by questioning these people. And discovers the prime suspest, Mr.Shears a different way.

The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time. chapters 31-59

A major event in these chapters is that you discover that mother died. She was only 38 when she died and she dies of a heart attack. This is significant because now you discover that the main character has been growing up with out a mother. This would be hard for him because he is autistic and doesn’t understand everything and being without a mother is really difficult for any teenager. After the death of the dog his father tells him not to try to solve the mystery of who killed him, and just stay out of other people's business. But he doesn’t listen, he is determined to find the killer of Wellington. The main reason he wrote this book was to write a mastery novel.

The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time. chapters 29-31

“Prime Numbers are what is left when you have taken all the patterns away. I think prime numbers are like life. They are very logical but you could never work out the rules, even if you spent all your time thinking about them.” (12)
I find this quote significant because all of his chapters are in prime numbers. I think that because he is autistic he sees things in a different way witch is really interesting to me. His book is filled with pictures and interesting descriptions unlike any book I have ever read. In these chapters he also explains how he doesn’t understand the use of metaphors. When he hears things like “I laughed my socks off” he doesn’t understand that because he actually think someone is laughing their socks off. To me seems very strange but it is because of his autism that he thinks like that. He is also very obsessed about time he has to have his watch on at all times and wouldn’t even take it off when he went in to his jail cell.
So far, I fond this book very interesting and I am excited to continue reading this book.

The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time. chapters 13-23

After he found the dog the cops come and to investigate the scene. When the cops arrived they found him hugging the dog and they accused him of killing it. He told them he didn’t and the cop grabbed him to stand him up, and he didn’t like the way the cop grabbed him so he smacked the cop. This really upset the cop so he told him to get in his squad car and brought him to jail. This surprised me because putting a 15 year old in jail for hitting a cop seems a bit extreme. Then his dad arrives at the station and is furious with the cops for putting his son in a cell, because his son is autistic. Then they release him and question him why about hitting the cop and about the dead dog.

The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time. chapters 2-11

In the first few chapters of this novel I have learned that the novel is a mystery novel, but not any mystery novel it’s about a dog that was murdered. The man who is telling the story is autistic. He doesn’t know how to interpret facial expressions so he carries around a piece of paper with different faces on it so he can tell how people are feeling. What is also different about this novel is all the chapters are prime numbers, I was kind of confused by this and I’m still unsure why he chose to do that.
The novel begins in first person, the main character finding a dead dog in his neighbor’s yard. He finds a pitchfork stabbed into the dog, he takes out the fork and holds the dog. He took a minute to think about how the dog was killed and came to the conclusion that he was murdered.

The Curious Incessant of the Dog in the Night-time

The book I choose to read is called The Curious Incessant of the Dog in the Night-time. The book is about an autistic boy who investigates a mysterious death of their neighborhood dog. The man who wrote the book numbers all his chapters in prime numbers and detests the color yellow. I chose this book because not only the cover caught my attention. When I picked up the book I flipped through the pages and the book really caught my eye. My friend told me about this book and usually he hates reading but he said that once I start reading this book i wont be able to put I down.
